Matts 67 Karmann Ghia Coupe
Matts 67 came in from California via a stint in Pennsylvania and a brief trip to Canada. It’s was a decent base project . We supplied Matt with the car and undertook his design brief and guided him on the way. We stripped the paint and had the car blasted as we do with all our cars and a few horrors came to light. Our fabricators manufactured a new nose section and also a new front wing plus numerous localised repairs.
The chassis was stripped and although the car had new pan halves fitted they were barely tacked into place so we thoroughly re welded them. A mid mount was added to the frame forks as we knew the car was going to have a 150 bhp screamer in it ( supplied and built by us) .The chassis was painted 2 pack gloss black and although it’s a car that will be doing some serious road miles no stone chip was applied. The suspension was dropped a spline at the back and a 2” narrowed and adjustable front beam was added. The track was narrowed to allow for the extra 2” width needed for the drop spindles so as not to widen the track beyond factory. The rear springplates had a modification to prevent the car being able to go negative camber when under braking and rev rear brakes were up rated to type 3.
The engine installed was a 2165cc version of one of our rev master motors fitted out with Gene Berg linkage, breather tower and also 44DCNF Weber carbs with Berg manifolds. The exhaust is one of our Sebring style systems.
The interior is totally bespoke with full wool cloth headliner, handmade by our craftsmen, along with beautiful ful leather front seats, matching door cards etc.
The carpet is one of the range we provide for our customers and can be bought in both left and right have drive in many different colours.
The interior is finished off with a full complement of our ISP vintage series gauges which are again available for sale through our site. A vintage Les Leston steering wheel and a locking Gene Berg gear shifter.
